UDA Politician Beth Wahito Dies in Tragic Road Accident

Tragedy has struck the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) after the sudden death of Beth Wahito, a Member of County Assembly (MCA) from Nyandarua County, who died in a serious road accident on the Nakuru-Nairobi Highway.

According to reports, the fatal incident happened at around 11 p.m. on Saturday night. Wahito was on her way home after attending an official county government committee meeting in Naivasha.

Sadly, her journey ended in tragedy when her vehicle was hit by a Guardian Angel bus as she tried to cross the road at an intersection. She died instantly at the scene of the accident.

Nyandarua County Assembly Speaker Stephen Wachira Waiganjo confirmed the heartbreaking news. In his statement, he mourned the passing of the MCA, describing her as a courageous and hardworking leader who served the people of Nyandarua with unwavering dedication.

“Beth Wahito led with bravery, determination, and a strong commitment to serve her community. She never shied away from standing up for what she believed in and always worked hard to improve the lives of those who were often forgotten or underserved,” Speaker Waiganjo said.

Wahito was also a key figure in the UDA party, where she most recently served as the Kinangop coordinator. Her political journey stretched over 30 years, and during that time, she held various leadership positions across different parties.

She started her political career as a Youth Leader with the Democratic Party (DP) and later served as the Nyandarua County Chairperson for NARC–Kenya before joining UDA.

Her death has sent shockwaves through the political scene, especially because it happened just days after the UDA party lost another MCA under unclear circumstances.

On June 12, Nanam Ward MCA Philip Ekuwam Lomuria passed away while receiving medical treatment in hospital. Lomuria, who was also serving as the Deputy Speaker of the Turkana County Assembly, was remembered as a passionate and committed leader who played a vital role in the UDA Party and the Turkana County Assembly.

In a statement, UDA Secretary General Hassan Omar paid tribute to Lomuria, saying, “Until his passing, Philip Lomuria was a devoted and energetic leader who served his people with loyalty.

He was deeply committed to his work in the County Assembly and to the mission of the UDA Party.”

The statement went on to express heartfelt condolences to Lomuria’s family, the County Assembly of Turkana, and the people of Turkana County, saying the party stands with them during this painful time of mourning.

These back-to-back losses have deeply saddened members of the UDA Party and the wider political community in Kenya. Both Beth Wahito and Philip Lomuria are being remembered as strong, dedicated leaders whose impact will be felt for years to come.
