PHOTOS: Inside Albert Ojwang’s Parents’ Complete House, Built in Just 2 Weeks

PHOTOS: A Look Inside the Newly Built House for Albert Ojwang’s Parents, Completed in Just Two Weeks

The Homa Bay County Government has officially completed the construction of a brand new two-bedroom house for the father of the late Albert Ojwang, just a day before his burial.

In a statement released on Thursday morning, Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga said that even though Albert Ojwang is no longer alive, the dream he had of building a decent home for his parents had now come true.

The house, which stands right next to Mzee Ojwang’s previous semi-permanent residence, has been beautifully painted in beige with white trimmings along the edges, adding a bright and warm touch to its appearance. A small staircase at the entrance enhances the house’s modern design.

Upon entering the house, one is welcomed into a spacious and stylish sitting room. The walls are painted a soft cream color, giving the room a calm and inviting atmosphere. The space is furnished with comfortable couches and decorated with colorful curtains, making it feel homely and vibrant.

The newly constructed house now serves as the permanent home for both Albert Ojwang’s mother and father. It features one living room, two bedrooms, a modern bathroom, a separate toilet, and a fully fitted kitchen that includes a back door for added convenience.

While officially handing over the house to the family, Governor Wanga called for justice for Albert Ojwang, who tragically died while in police custody after he was arrested by DCI officers in early June.

“Today, as we bring Albert’s body home, we also see his dream realized. He had always wanted to build his parents a decent home. Even though he is not here with us, we are proud to have fulfilled that wish. We now call for justice to be served in his case,” Governor Wanga stated.

Before this new house was built, Albert’s parents—Meshack Ojwang and his wife—were living in a modest, semi-permanent structure. They had long held the hope that one day their son would be able to build them a proper modern house.

This project follows a pledge made two weeks earlier by Governor Wanga to construct a two-bedroom house for the grieving family. She had made this promise during her visit to the family home in Kokwanyo village, located in Kabondo Kasipul, on June 16, where she had gone to comfort them after Albert’s untimely death.

During the visit, the governor also delivered a cash donation of Ksh2 million from President William Ruto to support the family during the difficult time.

In addition to building the house, Governor Wanga also announced plans to mobilize friends and well-wishers to help purchase a plot of land in Homa Bay town. She explained that the land would be used to build rental houses for Ojwang’s parents as a long-term source of income and stability.

The story of Albert Ojwang has touched many hearts across the country, and this gesture by the county government is seen as a way of honoring his memory and ensuring that his family remains supported.
