SHA Publishes Official Contacts and Social Media Pages to Fight Misinformation

The Social Health Authority (SHA) has issued a strong advisory to the public, warning against the use of unofficial phone numbers, email addresses, and social media pages when seeking information or services related to its operations.

This move comes in response to a growing number of fake messages and fraudulent notices circulating online.

In a detailed public notice released on Friday, SHA outlined all its verified communication channels to help Kenyans access accurate information and protect themselves from online scams.

“The Social Health Authority (SHA) advises all members of the public to use the official contacts listed below for any inquiries or access to services,” the notice read.
“Please avoid engaging with unofficial contacts or social media pages, as they may be sources of misinformation,” SHA added.

Official SHA Email Contacts

SHA shared a breakdown of designated email addresses for specific purposes to streamline communication:

  • General inquiries – info@sha.go.ke
  • Customer service support – customerservice@sha.go.ke
  • Complaints – complaints@sha.go.ke
  • Fraud reporting – fraud@sha.go.ke
  • ICT and technical help – helpdesk@sha.go.ke

These email contacts are meant to provide a secure, direct line between citizens and the SHA for a wide range of services and concerns.

Phone and SMS Contact Options

Kenyans can also reach SHA via phone using any of the following:

  • Toll-free number: 0800 720 601 or simply dial 147
  • Main office line: +254 20 2723246/5
  • SMS inquiries: Text 147

These lines are available for queries, updates, and follow-ups regarding social health matters and services offered by SHA.

Physical Access Points

For those who prefer face-to-face assistance, SHA services are available at:

  • All SHA regional and branch offices
  • Huduma Centres across the country

This ensures that citizens from different regions can easily access SHA services without relying on unreliable third-party agents.

Official Social Media Accounts

To address misinformation spreading through fake social pages, SHA listed all its official and verified social media handles:

  • Facebook: @SocialHealthAuthority
  • Instagram: @SocialHealthAuthority
  • LinkedIn: @SocialHealthAuthority
  • TikTok: @SocialHealthAuthority
  • X (formerly Twitter): @_shakenya

(Note: The X account is verified with a grey tick, indicating it’s an official government account.)

SHA encouraged Kenyans to follow only these official pages for real-time updates, public notices, service information, and engagement with the Authority.

This announcement follows recent incidents where misleading posts, fake job ads, and false contribution notices went viral online—many from pages falsely claiming to be affiliated with SHA. The Authority reminded the public that it does not share such information through unverified platforms.

“All official communication from SHA is made through our recognized platforms and addresses. Do not trust or respond to unofficial messages claiming to represent us,” SHA emphasized.

With this move, the Social Health Authority aims to enhance transparency, build public trust, and protect citizens from being misled by fraudsters or inaccurate sources.
