Gachagua Asserts Plan to Take President Ruto to the International Criminal Court (ICC)

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has publicly confirmed that he has formed a dedicated task force to gather credible evidence against President William Ruto. The aim is to build a strong case to present before the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague.

While addressing Kenyans living in Seattle, Washington State, on Friday, Gachagua stated that recent acts of violence and killings in Kenya amount to serious crimes that can be prosecuted by the ICC. He stressed that urgent action must be taken to ensure accountability and justice for the victims.

“I want to officially announce that I’ve set up a team tasked with collecting and documenting all cases of atrocities, killings, forced evictions, disappearances, and abductions happening across the country,” Gachagua said during his speech.

He went on to declare, “We now have a team that is compiling solid evidence to bring President William Ruto before the International Criminal Court in The Hague.”

Gachagua further pointed out that Ruto’s previous ICC case, related to the 2007 post-election violence, was never fully resolved. Instead, he said, the case was temporarily suspended after key witnesses either went missing or withdrew.

Now, Gachagua and his team plan to revive that file and attach new accusations to it, ensuring it is reopened with fresh and reliable evidence.

He lamented the current state of insecurity in Kenya, saying that citizens are now living in constant fear in their own country. According to him, the government has failed in its basic responsibility of protecting lives and ensuring safety for all.

Referring to recent findings by the Kenya National Commission on Human Rights (KNCHR), Gachagua highlighted that over 30 people were killed during the Saba Saba protests.

The demonstrations, which took place in Nairobi and other parts of the country, were marred by violent confrontations between demonstrators and security forces. KNCHR accused police officers of not only using excessive force but also allegedly working alongside armed civilian gangs armed with crude weapons like machetes and spears.

In response to these alarming events, Gachagua made a passionate appeal to Kenyans living abroad. He urged the diaspora community to support the cause, insisting that the fight to remove Ruto from power and hold him accountable is a collective responsibility.

“This is a mission I invite you to join. We have no other choice if we want to rescue our country. Sending Ruto home and holding him accountable is the only way forward,” Gachagua urged. “Every Kenyan, even in the diaspora, must step up.

You can’t afford to stay silent while your country is bleeding — your voice and support are needed now more than ever in this struggle for freedom.”

Gachagua is currently in the United States on a tour aimed at promoting his political initiative known as the Wantam Agenda, through which he is seeking grassroots and international support for his movement.
