Uproar After Priest Allegedly Assaults 14-Year-Old Boy in Bomet

Residents of Bomet County are in shock and anger after a priest allegedly attacked a 14-year-old boy, leaving him with severe injuries that required hospitalization.

The incident, which took place earlier this week, has sparked heated debate in the community and drawn calls for immediate justice.

The victim, a Grade 8 pupil, is currently admitted to a local hospital where doctors say he is still recovering from the violent encounter.

According to reports, the teenager had been staying with the priest at his residence inside the church compound when the assault occurred.

Scene of the Incident

Eyewitnesses who spoke to Newshub.co.ke revealed that the boy was found lying helpless on the ground in great pain after the attack. Videos and images from the scene showed shocked residents gathering around the child as he struggled to move.

Despite their efforts to help him stand and walk to safety, he was unable to do so because of the intensity of the injuries.

Locals eventually managed to secure a motorbike, which rushed the injured boy to a nearby hospital for urgent medical attention. His father later confirmed that the priest had beaten him over an undisclosed mistake, a punishment he described as cruel and unnecessary.

Medical Condition

Doctors attending to the boy confirmed that he sustained multiple injuries. A medical officer reported that the teenager had visible wounds on his head and hands, alongside blood clots in his eyes, which suggested the assault had been brutal.

“He came in with soft tissue injuries to the head and swelling in the eyes. He also had redness and clotting that showed possible internal damage. We gave him first aid and admitted him for observation. His condition has since stabilized, but he still requires close medical supervision as he recovers,” one doctor said.

Public Outcry

The attack has triggered outrage among residents, who now accuse the priest of abusing his position of authority and trust. Many villagers expressed their disappointment, saying religious leaders are expected to protect and guide children, not harm them.

Community leaders and parents in the area condemned the assault, urging law enforcement to launch swift investigations and ensure that justice is served. They also called on church leadership to take responsibility and hold the clergyman accountable for his actions.

Several parents warned that such incidents could destroy the confidence and respect that faithful members have in religious institutions. “When a priest is involved in such violence, it creates fear and distrust among believers. The church must act quickly to restore confidence and protect children from such abuse,” one local parent said.

The priest’s identity has not yet been made public, but residents are pressing for immediate action from both the police and the church.

The case has now become a major concern for the community, with many insisting that those in positions of power should never be allowed to exploit or harm the vulnerable.
