Breaking: Governor Wamatangi Loses Sister

Governor Wamatangi Mourns the Loss of His Sister

Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi is in mourning after the death of his sister, Winnie Peninah Nyambura. Details about what caused her passing have not yet been made public.

In a heartfelt statement issued on Friday, September 5, the governor confirmed the loss and spoke of the deep pain the family is going through. He described death as a cruel reality that takes away loved ones and leaves families with an empty space that cannot be filled.

“Death is cruel. It takes from us the people we love and cherish, leaving behind a hurting void. But even in such times of sorrow, we are reminded to accept the will of God, because only in Him do we find comfort,” Governor Wamatangi said.

He went on to celebrate his sister’s life, expressing gratitude for the time they shared together as a family. “Rest in eternal peace, my sister, Winnie Peninah Nyambura. As a family, we cherish the moments God allowed us to be together. Go well, Nyambura,” he added.

Following the sad news, President William Ruto joined many Kenyans in mourning Nyambura. The Head of State extended his sympathy to the governor and his family, offering words of encouragement during the difficult period.

“May the Lord grant Governor Kimani Wamatangi the strength to endure the loss of his beloved sister, Winnie Nyambura,” President Ruto stated. “The family, friends, and the people of Kiambu are in our thoughts and prayers at this painful time. Rest In Peace, Winnie.”

Although little information is available about Nyambura, reports suggest that she was a businesswoman with strong interests in Kiambu County.

Her death comes only a day after Kiambu was struck by another major loss — the passing of Mzee Isaac Ngugi, the father of Kikuyu Member of Parliament Kimani Ichung’wah.

Mzee Ngugi, who was 105 years old, died peacefully in his sleep at his home in Kikuyu on Thursday morning. His passing was first confirmed by National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula, who broke the news to the public on Thursday evening.

President Ruto also paid tribute to the late Ngugi, describing him as a visionary businessman and one of the pioneering figures behind the establishment of Kikuyu Town. He praised Ngugi for dedicating his life to empowering others and initiating community projects that uplifted the less fortunate.

“Our heartfelt condolences to the family and friends for the passing of Mzee Isaac Ngugi, the father of Hon. Kimani Ichung’wah. Rest in Peace, Mzee,” the president wrote in his condolence message.

Other leaders also expressed their sympathies, including Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen, who sent his prayers to the Ichung’wah family during their time of grief.

The two losses — Nyambura and Mzee Ngugi — have left many families in Kiambu County mourning. Both were remembered for their impact within their families and communities, leaving behind legacies that will not be forgotten.
