Companies and Police Station in Nairobi and Kiambu Announce Auction of Cars, Motorcycles, and Bicycles

Two private companies and a police station in Nairobi and Kiambu counties have officially announced plans to auction cars, motorcycles, and bicycles that have been abandoned and remain uncollected for a long period of time.

In a public notice published in the Kenya Gazette on September 5, Chanjo O-zone Point revealed that it will auction a vehicle that has been lying idle at its yard in Kihuguro, Ruiru, within the next 30 days.

The firm explained that the vehicle’s owner is required to clear all pending storage charges as well as other incidental costs, including the publication of the auction notice.

The company further warned that if the owner fails to settle the charges and reclaim the car within the given timeline, the motor vehicle will be disposed of through a public auction.

The proceeds from the auction will then be used to offset the accumulated debts, storage fees, and other costs incurred.

At the same time, Field and Industrial Services Limited also issued a separate notice indicating that it will auction several vehicles that have been left at its yard along Lusaka Road in Nairobi’s Industrial Area. Among the vehicles listed for sale are a Toyota Hilux, Ford Ranger, Hummer, VW Crafter, and a Land Rover.

The company stated that owners of the listed cars must clear all outstanding storage charges, accrued interest, and related expenses in order to collect their vehicles. Should they fail to do so, the vehicles will be sold by Interfield Auctioneers, located at Afya Centre, 8th Floor, Tom Mboya Street, Nairobi.

The notice further indicated that the disposal may be done through public auction, tender, or private treaty, and the proceeds from the sales will be used to recover all charges without further communication to the owners.

In addition, Windsor House Auctioneers announced that it will auction more than 50 motorcycles and bicycles that remain unclaimed at Masii Police Station. The auction will take place within the next 30 days as ordered by the court.

The list of motor vehicles to be sold from Masii Police Station includes several brands such as Mitsubishi, Nissan X-Trail, Toyota DX, two white Toyota cars, a Nissan March, and other Toyota models. The motorcycles include popular brands like Boxer, Sonlink, Skygo, Honova, Lifan, Jincheng, TVS, Haojin, Dayun, and Honda.

According to the auctioneers, the notice is issued under the authority of a miscellaneous application case number E001 of 2025 at the Subordinate Court in Wamunyu.

The court directed that owners of motor vehicles, motorcycles, bicycles, assorted items, and even scrap metals lying idle at the police station should come forward to reclaim their property. Those who fail to do so will lose their assets through auction.

This latest announcement comes just a week after a similar exercise in Embu and Machakos counties. In that case, two auctioneers — Petfriend Auctioneers and Wotech Kenya Limited — issued a gazette notice on August 26, announcing the auction of over 50 uncollected cars and motorcycles that had been held for long in various police stations and offices.

The repeated announcements suggest a growing push by police stations and companies to clear their premises of uncollected and abandoned vehicles, motorcycles, bicycles, and other assets that continue to accumulate storage costs.
