Drama in Machakos as Four People Nabbed for Allegedly Performing Witchcraft Near Politician’s Home at Midnight

Tension filled Kyasila village in Machakos County after four people — two men and two women — were caught late at night allegedly performing witchcraft near a local politician’s home.

The dramatic incident, which happened around midnight, left villagers shocked and restless as they tried to make sense of what was unfolding.

According to eyewitnesses, the four were found with strange items often linked to witchcraft, including small calabashes, red clothes, and other mysterious objects.

Their suspicious activities drew the attention of curious villagers, who quickly surrounded and apprehended them before they could escape.

Villagers Confront the Suspects

Videos circulating online show the suspects sitting on the ground, visibly injured after being beaten by angry residents. In the background, voices can be heard demanding that the suspects explain what they were doing in the area at such a late hour.

“Tell us what you usually do! Speak up because someone has gone to get a car tyre that will be used on you,” one angry villager was heard shouting in the video, suggesting that the mob was on the verge of taking matters into their own hands.

The frightened suspects reportedly gave unclear answers, which only fueled the villagers’ suspicion. Fortunately, police officers arrived at the scene just in time to rescue the four from the mob before the situation turned deadly.

They were taken to the nearest police station as investigations into their activities and motives began.

One of the suspects, an elderly woman, appeared too weak to walk and struggled to climb into the back of the police land cruiser. A few residents were seen helping her onto the vehicle as officers intervened to prevent further harm.

Online Reactions and Speculations

The bizarre incident quickly spread on social media, where it sparked heated debate among Kenyans. Many netizens expressed disbelief at the idea of people still practising witchcraft in the modern era, while others were curious to know what exactly the group had been doing near the politician’s home.

Some users, however, suggested that the entire event could have been politically motivated. They claimed that it might have been staged to attract sympathy or shift public opinion ahead of upcoming political campaigns.

One commenter even speculated that the four individuals might not have been aware of the accusations against them and could have been used to create a scene.

As police continue their investigations, questions remain about whether the suspects were truly involved in witchcraft or if they were victims of a setup.

The incident has reignited conversations in Machakos about the persistence of traditional beliefs and superstitions, especially in rural communities where witchcraft accusations are still taken seriously.
