Uhuru Kenyatta Hints at Personal Health Battle During Friend’s Funeral

Former President Uhuru Kenyatta has seemingly opened up about his rumored health challenges, offering rare insight into what many believe to be his ongoing battle with cancer.

His emotional remarks came as he paid tribute to his close friend, Frank Ireri, who passed away after a long fight with the same disease.

Speaking during Ireri’s funeral on Friday, October 31, Uhuru reflected deeply on their shared struggles, hinting that he too has been facing serious health issues. He praised Ireri for being a source of strength and encouragement, especially during difficult times.

“I don’t know whether I should say this, but these are the realities of life,” Uhuru said. “For the better part of last year and this year, Frank was always encouraging us about the challenges we were facing. Since he had more experience, he constantly guided us on how to handle such situations.”

The former Head of State went on to express how much Ireri’s support meant to him, revealing the emotional bond they shared through their similar circumstances. “I will truly miss his advice.

He always held our hand, telling us not to worry and reassuring us that everything would eventually pass,” he added with emotion.

Uhuru’s tone suggested that he might still be undergoing treatment or recovery, as he spoke about life and mortality with unusual openness. “The reason Frank is lying here is because his time came. For those of us still dealing with similar challenges, we shall continue to fight.

But when God’s time comes for us, we will join him and be grateful for the life and memories we shared,” Uhuru remarked.

His heartfelt words have reignited public speculation about his health, which has been the subject of widespread discussion since early this year.

Many Kenyans began to worry after noticing his reduced public appearances and limited political activity throughout last year and the beginning of this one.

The rumors intensified after Uhuru appeared in public with a noticeably bald head, leading many to believe he was undergoing chemotherapy.

Observant Kenyans also pointed out that he seemed to experience shortness of breath when speaking at some events.

However, several members of his political circle have strongly denied these claims. Jubilee Party official Pauline Njoroge once dismissed the reports as “fictional and ill-intentioned,” urging the public to disregard the speculation.

In recent months, Uhuru has made a notable return to the public eye, showing renewed energy and improved health. He has attended several national events and even presided over the Jubilee Party’s National Delegates Conference (NDC).

Those close to him say he appears more vibrant, with his speeches once again filled with confidence and strength.

Despite the secrecy surrounding his health, Uhuru’s emotional tribute to his late friend gave Kenyans a rare glimpse into his personal struggles and resilience — a reminder that even leaders face private battles behind their public roles.
