President Ruto’s Big Announcement in Nairobi After Raila Family Backed Kalonzo for 2027

President William Ruto made a major announcement in Nairobi just days after reports emerged that the family of the late Raila Odinga had shown support for Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka’s 2027 presidential bid.

The timing of the announcement has drawn public attention, coming at a moment when Kenya’s political scene is heating up ahead of the next general election.

During the Nairobi event, President Ruto revealed that his government will partner with Gulf investors and private sector players to boost Kenya’s electricity production to 10,000 megawatts by 2032.

The ambitious plan will be carried out through public-private partnerships, a move he said will help power industries, homes, and economic growth across the country.

Ruto also announced plans to construct 50 large dams across the country to increase food production and strengthen irrigation systems.

According to him, these projects will not only ensure food security but also create thousands of jobs for Kenyans.

He emphasized that his administration is focused on transforming Kenya from a developing nation into a first-world country within the next two to three decades.

The announcement came shortly after a delegation from the United Arab Emirates visited Nairobi to discuss investment opportunities in Kenya.

The president said these partnerships show growing international confidence in Kenya’s economy and leadership.

Politically, the timing of Ruto’s remarks is seen as strategic. His bold development agenda comes as the opposition camp reorganizes itself following the passing of Raila Odinga.

Kalonzo Musyoka has recently gained significant attention, especially after Raila’s widow, Ida Odinga, described him as “a true friend of Raila” who stood with their family during difficult times.

Many observers believe this could be an early sign of the Odinga family’s support for Kalonzo in 2027.

Analysts say Ruto’s development-focused message could be aimed at strengthening his political base as new alliances take shape within the opposition.

His promise to expand energy production and improve infrastructure portrays him as a leader focused on long-term national transformation rather than short-term politics.

However, some Kenyans are waiting to see if the president’s promises will turn into real action, as details on project financing and timelines are yet to be made clear.

Others view the move as part of Ruto’s effort to maintain control of the national narrative amid the growing influence of Kalonzo Musyoka in the opposition.

In summary, President Ruto’s announcement in Nairobi highlights his intention to focus on major development projects while sending a clear political message.

As the 2027 race begins to take shape, his vision for Kenya’s transformation and the shifting alliances in the opposition are likely to define the country’s political and economic direction in the coming years.
