Kakamega Politician Lynda Aseyo Dies in Tragic Road Accident

Former Kakamega County Assembly member, Lynda Aseyo, has tragically lost her life in a motorcycle accident on the Kakamega-Mumias Highway.

Her sudden death on Tuesday evening, November 18, near Planet Gardens Resort, has left the community, fellow leaders, and friends in deep mourning.

Known for her dedication to public service, Aseyo remained an active figure in her community even after leaving office in 2022.

How the Accident Happened

Eyewitnesses reported that Lynda Aseyo was riding a motorcycle when it collided with a passenger bus heading to Kakamega. The impact was severe, and she died instantly at the scene.

Dennis Weche, a close friend of the late politician, confirmed the tragic incident, stating, “She tragically lost her life in a road accident near Ikonyero after the boda boda she was riding on was hit by a Climax bus from Mumias. She died on the spot. Rest in peace, comrade.”

Her sudden passing has left a void in the community she tirelessly served. Residents and fellow leaders in Kakamega eulogized her as a selfless, service-oriented politician who always prioritized the needs of her constituents.

Tributes from Leaders

Governor Fernandes Barasa of Kakamega County expressed profound sorrow over Lynda Aseyo’s death. He described her as a remarkable advocate for the ordinary citizens of Kakamega, highlighting her unwavering commitment to public service even after her term ended in 2022.

“Hon. Lynda Aseyo showed exceptional dedication, paying close attention to the needs of the people and remaining deeply involved in community development programs,” Governor Barasa said.

“Even after leaving office, she stayed connected with her community, especially in her native area of Shirere, actively supporting initiatives that uplifted the lives of many. Her passion, experience, and devotion to public service will be sorely missed.”

The governor also extended his heartfelt condolences to Aseyo’s family, friends, and supporters. “On my own behalf, my family, and the people of Kakamega County, I convey our deepest sympathies to the family, friends, and colleagues of Hon.

Lynda Aseyo. May you find strength in the enduring legacy she leaves behind—a legacy defined by selfless, transformative, and people-centered leadership. May God grant her eternal peace,” he added.

Remembering a Legacy of Service

Lynda Aseyo’s passing is a significant loss not only to her family and friends but also to the people of Kakamega who benefited from her commitment and vision.

She will be remembered as a politician who consistently put the welfare of the community above all else and as a leader whose influence extended beyond her tenure in office.

Her life and work serve as a reminder of the impact dedicated public servants can have on society, leaving a legacy that will continue to inspire future generations.
