Rigathi Gachagua Outsmarts Police, Enters Town via Village Paths Wearing Military Helmet

Rigathi Gachagua Beats Police Blockade, Sneaks Into Narok Through Village Paths While Wearing Military Helmet

Rigathi Gachagua made a dramatic and tense entry into Narok town on Monday, November 24, after facing heavy police roadblocks, teargas, and an intense security presence aimed at stopping his campaign tour.

The Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) leader had travelled to the Maa region to rally support for Douglas Masikonde, his party’s MCA candidate in the upcoming November 27 by-election.

To the surprise of many, Gachagua appeared wearing a black military-style helmet for protection. This came after authorities reportedly deployed a large number of officers and mounted several roadblocks to block him and his team from accessing Narok town.

How Gachagua Managed to Enter Narok Town

Despite the government’s efforts to stop him, Gachagua still managed to reach his supporters. With assistance from local residents who knew the hidden and rarely used village routes, he was quietly guided through remote paths that police had not considered.

This allowed him to slip past security barriers and enter the town, where he was welcomed by thousands of excited and cheering DCP supporters.

Gachagua later shared that his village background helped him understand how to navigate such situations.
“Being a villager, I connected with my fellow villagers in Narok who escorted me through those village paths unknown to police.

That is how I made a triumphant entry into town and was received by thousands of jubilant supporters,” he wrote in a Facebook post.

However, the celebrations did not last long. Around five minutes into his address, police lobbed teargas at the crowd, forcing Gachagua and his convoy to retreat to safety. Even so, no injuries were reported, and many young supporters remained defiant, insisting they were ready to face the anti-riot officers just to listen to him speak.

Gachagua Accuses State of Intimidation

The former deputy president strongly condemned the heavy police presence, claiming the government deliberately planned to frustrate his movements and interfere with his campaign activities.
He said the security operation was part of a wider attempt to intimidate him and suppress the will of the people.

“Clear instructions had been issued by this cowardly and brutal regime to block me and my entourage from accessing Narok Town to campaign for the DCP Candidate for Narok Ward, Masikonde,” he said.

Gachagua added that the unity and determination of ordinary citizens were stronger than any form of police force.
“The people, a united people, are stronger than all roadblocks, stronger than all bullets, stronger than all the teargas you have. They are stronger than any dictator in the world,” he said.

Message to Police After the Incident

Gachagua thanked the residents of Narok—especially the youth—for standing firm and refusing to be intimidated. He noted that the upcoming by-election would clearly prove where the people’s loyalty lies.

He also accused police of using unnecessary force on peaceful citizens and warned that Kenya cannot be turned into a monarchy ruled through intimidation.
“How can you beat me in my own game?

No amount of blood money, police brutality, or excessive force will scare or silence the people of this country,” he said.

The Narok Town By-Election: UDA vs DCP

The race has now become a heated political battleground, with the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA) fronting Robert Kanyinke Kudate, while Gachagua’s DCP is backing Douglas Masikonde.

The tension witnessed in Narok shows how high the stakes are as both sides scramble for control ahead of the November 27 mini-poll.
