Top 100 Kenyans 2025: Full List (Live)

The year 2025 has been one of the most defining periods in Kenya’s recent history. Artificial intelligence disrupted workplaces, nationwide protests shifted public debates, and new political alliances intensified the build-up to the November by-elections.

Amid all this unpredictability, a unique group of Kenyans did not just cope with the turbulence — they shaped its direction. These individuals stood out for their influence, resilience, and leadership, earning a place in the much-anticipated Top 100 Kenyans 2025 list.

This marks the eighth edition of the annual project. Throughout the year, our newsroom closely monitored change-makers, innovators, and individuals who took bold steps to impact society between January and December.

In 2025, influence in Kenya moved away from traditional political and economic power centres. It shifted toward people who showed strong leadership during moments of disruption, especially those working directly with communities.

Grassroots organisers, youth leaders, climate responders, and individuals tackling water shortages and economic struggles for SMEs became some of the country’s most visible first responders.

Technology also played a major role in shaping new leaders. The rise of AI and fast-growing fintech solutions pushed young tech innovators and digital creators into the national spotlight.

Content creators, internet voices and homegrown innovators influenced public conversations far beyond established institutions, proving that impact can come from anywhere.

This year, countless Kenyans stepped forward. Some disrupted outdated systems, others defended rights, and many helped transform entire sectors.

From this broad pool of impactful citizens, Kenyans.co.ke carefully refined a list of 100 people who truly defined 2025.

The list captures names ranging from global marathon legend Eliud Kipchoge, to major industry leaders like Tom Gitogo, CEO of Britam, and celebrated innovator Charlot Magayi, founder of Mukuru Clean Stoves. Each individual made a mark in a unique way.

Creating this list required far more than simply counting social media followers or reviewing headlines. It demanded thorough scrutiny, consistency, and a willingness to challenge assumptions.

Project leads Brian Muuo, Head of Social Media and Campaigns, and Edwin Kuria, Head of Video and Projects, guided the entire review process with a strong insistence on credibility.

For months, they led rigorous debates, fact-checking sessions, and internal reviews as the newsroom worked to identify who truly made a measurable impact during the year.

To protect the fairness of the process, the team designed a multi-layer verification and auditing system. Every nomination had to pass through independent fact-checking units.

According to Edwin, the teams validated achievements, timelines, affiliations, and real-world influence using public data — not press releases, sponsored posts, or claims that could not be verified.

“We also introduced a conflict-of-interest declaration for all reviewers, ensuring that anyone with ties to a nominee did not participate in that candidate’s evaluation,” he explained.

This step removed hidden influence that might come from friendships, networks, or organisational loyalties.

Brian added, “If a nomination raised even the slightest suspicion of outside pressure, it was thoroughly investigated. The final 100 is solid because the process was strict and uncompromising.”
