Teachers Endorse President Ruto for 2027 Re-Election
Teachers across Kenya have expressed their support for President William Ruto as he seeks re-election in 2027, highlighting the steps he has taken to address challenges affecting educators in the country.
Speaking on Monday, January 26, in Nandi County during the Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) grassroots elections, KNUT Secretary General Collins Oyoo confirmed that teachers are fully backing President Ruto.
He emphasized that the educators appreciate the President’s efforts to resolve issues that have long affected their profession.
Oyoo further explained that the recent meeting teachers had with President Ruto at State House is already yielding positive results. He revealed that the government has allocated over Ksh 2 billion to support teacher promotions and to hire additional educators across the country.
“We, as teachers, highly commend the President for the review of the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).
You know that the promotion system for teachers has faced numerous challenges, and many educators have remained stuck in the same grade for several years.
The President’s intervention is helping to change this,” Oyoo stated, underlining the importance of the government’s measures in improving teachers’ welfare.
He added that these initiatives not only provide financial support but also show the government’s commitment to ensuring that teachers are recognized, valued, and motivated to continue contributing to the country’s education sector.
