Grade Nine learners who sat for the 2025 Kenya Junior School Education Assessment (KJSEA) exams can now easily check their results through a Short Message Service (SMS).
The Ministry of Education issued a directive on Thursday, December 4, informing teachers, parents, and learners that they can access the results by sending the learner’s assessment number to 22263, with each SMS costing Ksh30.
Once the SMS is sent, the sender will receive the complete KJSEA results, which include not only the learner’s performance but also the schools they have been placed into depending on their chosen career pathway.
According to a notice issued by Kenya’s leading telecommunications company, the process is straightforward:
“To check a KJSEA learner’s selected schools, send their assessment number to 22263. The SMS costs Ksh30.”
The examinations, which were conducted from October 27 to November 3, 2025, were designed to evaluate how well students were prepared to join senior secondary school under the competency-based curriculum.
This communication follows an earlier announcement by Basic Education Principal Secretary Julius Bitok, who indicated two weeks ago that the KJSEA results would be made public in early December.
Speaking to journalists on November 17, Bitok assured the country that the Ministry of Education had already put in place all necessary plans to ensure a smooth transition for the more than one million learners who took the exams. He added that the national results would be released on or before December 11.
Although the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) has not yet issued an official statement confirming the release of the results, the government expects student placement to begin within a week after the announcement.
The Ministry also stated that once all results are out, students should be able to download their placement letters before December 25, and report to their new schools by January 12, 2026.
The latest update comes shortly after KNEC issued a warning to the public about scammers pretending to be insiders capable of altering exam results.
In a statement released on Wednesday, December 3, the council confirmed that it had received several reports about individuals claiming they could change either KJSEA or KCSE results in exchange for money.
KNEC urged parents and candidates to stay alert and avoid falling victim to such fraudulent schemes.
