The family of the beloved comedian Fred Omondi has called upon the community and well-wishers for support as they prepare for his final farewell.
Fred Omondi, who tragically lost his life in a road accident, was remembered by his mother, Eunice Atieno Omondi, as a joyful and loving son who brought immense happiness to those around him.
Eunice shared her sorrow, describing how Fred’s playful nature and zest for life endeared him to many.
“Fred was full of mischief and joy, which shaped his career and life positively. Losing him has left a void that words cannot express,” she said, urging the community to come together for his funeral.
Kenneth Matiba, Fred’s cousin, highlighted the profound loss felt by the family and the community, emphasizing Fred’s close relationships and his impact on those around him.
“Fred knew everyone and was a person of the people. His absence is deeply felt by all of us,” he remarked.
The tragic accident occurred on Kangundo Road, where Fred, a passenger on a motorcycle, collided with a bus. He died on the spot, while the motorcycle rider sustained severe injuries and was taken to Mama Lucy Hospital. Fred’s body was transported to Chiromo Mortuary.
As the family continues with burial preparations, set for June 29, they face challenges and are calling on the support of friends and well-wishers.
“We are making progress with the funeral plans, but there is still a lot to do. Any help we can get is greatly appreciated,” Eunice appealed.
The Churchill Show, where Fred frequently performed, will host a commemorative event on June 21 to honor his memory, celebrating the joy and laughter he brought to countless lives.
