Three people have lost their lives on Friday in a tragic accident involving a government vehicle and a lorry transporting Liquified Petroleum Gas (LPG) at Fort Tenan in Kericho County.

The accident occurred when the government vehicle collided with the oncoming LPG lorry, resulting in the immediate death of all three occupants in the government vehicle—a male driver and two passengers.

Kericho County Traffic Enforcement Officer Selina Chirchir confirmed the fatalities and noted that the driver of the LPG lorry sustained serious injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The wreckage of both vehicles was extensively damaged, with images from the scene showing the severe impact of the collision.

Officer Chirchir emphasized the importance of adhering to traffic regulations and avoiding overspeeding to prevent such tragic incidents.

“We continue to urge drivers to adhere to all traffic regulations and avoid overspeeding so that we stop losing our people in accidents,” she said.

Emergency responders worked quickly at the scene to assist those affected and manage the wreckage.

Police officers have initiated an investigation to determine the cause of the accident.

The bodies of the deceased were transported to St. Vincent Hospital in Muhoroni, Kisumu County, where they will be identified by their relatives.
