In a heated exchange during a recent event in Kiambu, Gathoni Wamuchomba, MP for Githunguri, sharply criticized President William Ruto’s policies, specifically targeting his government’s implementation of contentious programs.
Speaking in the presence of Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi, Wamuchomba did not hold back, expressing strong dissatisfaction with Ruto’s leadership and policy direction, particularly the rollout of the Social Health Insurance Fund (SHIF).
She highlighted the inefficiencies in the program, alleging misuse of funds and disregard for court orders that had declared parts of the policy unconstitutional.
Wamuchomba has been a vocal critic of the President’s policies, including the housing levy and the Finance Bill.
She previously opposed the measures in Parliament, arguing that they disproportionately burdened Kenyan workers.
Despite facing backlash from her party, including political isolation and disciplinary threats, she remains steadfast.
She continues to champion the interests of her constituents, emphasizing her duty to speak out against what she perceives as unjust governance.
This boldness in addressing the President directly during public events demonstrates Wamuchomba’s commitment to advocating for her community, even in the face of criticism from her political party.
Her defiance underscores growing discontent among some leaders within Ruto’s administration, reflecting a broader dissatisfaction with the current government’s approach to economic and social policies.
