Kenya Power (KPLC) Announces Scheduled Monday Power Blackout in Several Counties

The Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) has issued a notice outlining several counties that will experience power interruptions on Monday starting from approximately 8 AM.

These outages are scheduled to facilitate essential maintenance and repairs on the power grid.

Regions and Affected Areas

North Rift Region

In Nandi County, the following areas will face power outages:

  • Nandi Hills and Tindiret Areas: Siret Tea Factory, Kepchomo Tea Factory, Kapchorua Tea Factory, Kipkoimet Tea Factory, DL Koisagat Tea Factory, Maraba, Tachasis, Tinderet Tea Factory, Mbogo Valley Tea Factory, and Nandi Hills Town.
  • Additional areas include: Nandi Tea Factory, Kibwari Tea Factory, Savani Tea Factory, Kapsimotwo KBC, Senetwo, Songhor, Soba River, and Tinderet Technical Institute, along with neighboring customers.

Western Region

  • Chemelil and Awasi Areas: Kowaw, Chemelil Market, Awasi Market, Gogni Quarry, Blue Triangle Quarry, and Ngere Kagoro Market, as well as nearby customers, will also be affected.

Nyamira County

  • Bonyunyu and Nyamira Areas: Bonyunyu Market, Masosa Secondary School, Miruka Market, Rateti Market, Nyakeyo Market, and nearby residents.
  • Keroka Area: Keroka Town, Keroka Hilltop, Ichuni Secondary School, Rianyoka, and surrounding customers will also experience power interruptions.

Embu County

  • Gachoka and Gachuriri Areas: Gachoka Market, DO Kuku Afya, Kangeta Fides, Highland Canners, Gachuriri Market, Yonder Water Pumps, KHE, Rugakori Primary School, Kamucinga, Muraru Market, Muraru Primary School, Kangungi Primary School, Mbita Primary School, Kamwimbi Primary School, Emidan Farm, and nearby customers will face a blackout.

Duration and Restoration

According to KPLC, the listed areas will experience the power blackout for the better part of the day.

The company has assured residents that electricity supply will be restored in the evening after the necessary repairs and maintenance activities have been completed.

Residents in the affected areas are advised to plan accordingly and make necessary arrangements to minimize inconvenience.
