Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s recent meeting with elected Members of the County Assembly (MCAs) from Nakuru County has stirred widespread speculation about his political intentions.

Insiders reveal that Gachagua plans to meet MCAs from all ten counties in the Mt. Kenya region over the next week.

The gatherings are expected to culminate in the unveiling of his political party at the end of the month.

During a church service in Nanyuki on Sunday, Gachagua confirmed that his new party would be launched within two weeks.

This announcement has added fuel to the ongoing discussions about his potential political ambitions.

Taking to his X account, Gachagua shared insights from his meeting with the Nakuru MCAs.

He noted that the leaders briefed him on pressing socioeconomic issues in the county, while also highlighting the priorities of the ordinary citizen, often referred to as Wanjiku.

“The Members of the County Assembly are closest to the electorate at the grassroots level, making them a true voice of the people.

Their insights provide a clear picture of what the common Wananchi want to see addressed,” Gachagua wrote.

He further emphasized his commitment to engaging with leaders across all levels—grassroots to national—stating, “I will continue these engagements to compile a comprehensive report on the country’s economic challenges and propose a way forward.”

Naivasha MP Jane Kihara, who accompanied the Nakuru MCAs to the meeting, affirmed that similar sessions are planned for the coming days.

“Every day is a busy day for him, and this is just the beginning,” said Kihara. “The main goal is to unite the region so that as a community, we can reclaim our dignity and respect as we advance together.”

Gachagua’s actions and statements have heightened public curiosity about his plans to reshape the political landscape in the Mt. Kenya region.

Observers are keenly watching as events unfold in the lead-up to his anticipated party launch.
