Woman Who Was Embarrassed by Pastor Ng’ang’a Secures Affordable Housing Apartment

Milka Moraa, a woman who once faced public humiliation at the hands of Pastor James Ng’ang’a, is now a beneficiary of the government’s Affordable Housing Program, securing a Ksh640,000 apartment in Mukuru, Nairobi.

This incredible transformation marks a new chapter for Moraa, who is set to move into one of the newly completed units within the next two months.

Moraa’s story started on a painful note when she appeared on television seeking help from Pastor Ng’ang’a, only to be mocked and humiliated.

Her landlord had locked her out of her house because she couldn’t afford the rent, and she turned to the pastor for assistance. Instead of receiving support, Pastor Ng’ang’a belittled her, suggesting she should consider affordable housing options if she couldn’t pay rent.

This moment of embarrassment quickly spread on social media, drawing mixed reactions from Kenyans who were shocked by the pastor’s response.

However, the story took a positive turn thanks to the support of well-wishers. Among them was police officer Sammy Ondimu, who spearheaded a fundraising campaign that raised Ksh392,000 to help Moraa. In addition, the police helped her secure a unit in the newly built Mukuru Affordable Housing project.

“I was deeply hurt when the pastor humiliated me in front of everyone, but I held on to hope. Now, things are turning around for the better,” Moraa shared with the media.

Moraa has successfully secured a studio apartment, commonly referred to as a ‘Bedsitter,’ for Ksh640,000.

The apartment is part of the government’s Affordable Housing Program, which is providing homes at an affordable rate.

Moraa, who previously struggled to pay Ksh4,000 rent each month, now enjoys a stable job where she earns Ksh18,000 monthly, making it possible for her to comfortably afford her new home.

She has the option to either pay for her new apartment upfront or use the rent-to-own model, which allows her to pay Ksh3,900 per month.

This is a significant improvement from her previous living situation, where she was crammed into a tiny 9.2 square feet room filled with personal belongings and facing serious health risks due to unclean water.

The new housing unit in Mukuru offers modern amenities like access to clean water, reliable gas supply, an automated elevator, and social facilities. Moreover, Moraa’s children will benefit from having a school within the housing complex, making life even more convenient for the family.

Moraa expressed her deep gratitude to the government and the kind-hearted Kenyans who came to her aid. “I want to thank everyone who helped me, and I hope they will continue to support me and others like me,” she said.

The houses, part of a larger initiative to address Kenya’s housing shortage, will be officially inaugurated by President William Ruto in the coming two months. This marks a new beginning not only for Milka Moraa but also for many other Kenyans who will benefit from this affordable housing project in the future.
