President Ruto Breaks Silence Over the Abduction of 5 Chiefs by the Al- Shabaab Goons

President William Ruto has taken strong action after five chiefs were abducted in Mandera. The abductions occurred on Monday while the chiefs were traveling to a security meeting in preparation for the President’s upcoming visit.

Speaking during his tour of Mandera on Tuesday, Ruto issued clear instructions to national security agencies to ensure the swift and safe return of the kidnapped chiefs.

The President also strongly criticized the al Shabaab militants, accusing them of bypassing security checkpoints to enter the country and carry out the attacks.

Despite the heightened security situation, Ruto chose to address the crowd in Mandera from the roof of a car, instead of using the podium where other leaders, including Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, were speaking.

In his address, he reassured the public that the government had taken decisive action to resolve the situation and protect its citizens.

“The security of our nation is of the utmost importance,” Ruto declared. “We are facing off against terrorists, criminals, and other threats to our peace, and we will deal with these insurgents.”

The President emphasized that the national security forces had been given clear orders to ensure the safe return of the five chiefs.

He also revealed that he had brought along Deputy Inspector General of Police Gilbert Masengeli to highlight the importance of addressing the abductions quickly and effectively.

The President explained that the chiefs had been targeted by the insurgents because of the successful efforts of Kenyan security teams in combating the militants in the region.

He further noted that the abduction was intended to intimidate him and prevent him from completing his planned four-day work tour of the northeastern region.

In a show of defiance against the insurgents, Ruto announced that he would stay the night in Mandera to demonstrate the government’s determination to tackle insecurity in the area.

“The insurgents wanted to create fear by kidnapping our chiefs, but we will not be intimidated,” he stated. “I promise the people of Mandera that their chiefs will return safely.”

Ruto also made it clear that the Kenyan government would not allow any part of the country’s territory to be taken by the militants.

He assured the public that despite the challenges posed by the insurgents, the government had significantly strengthened its security response.

The chiefs, who were from the Wargadud East, Qurahmudow, and Chachabole administrative units, were traveling in a vehicle to Elwak when they were kidnapped between Bamba Owla and Ires Suki in Mandera South. They were on their way to attend a consultative meeting for the President’s visit to the region.
