Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga has officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with President William Ruto, marking the inclusion of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party into the Kenya Kwanza administration.
This important agreement was made public on Friday afternoon during an event that saw the presence of numerous notable leaders, including politicians affiliated with both the Kenya Kwanza coalition and the ODM party.
Among the key agreements outlined by the two leaders were the complete implementation of the National Dialogue Committee (NADCO) report, a comprehensive approach to addressing the growing issue of youth unemployment, and the full enforcement of the two-thirds gender rule, which aims for more balanced gender representation in leadership positions.
Additionally, the two leaders reached an agreement to foster greater inclusivity among all Kenyans, regardless of their religious backgrounds.
They emphasized that enhancing inclusivity would create more opportunities for all citizens, especially when it comes to securing public appointments across various sectors.
ODM Secretary-General, Edwin Sifuna, revealed that Raila and Ruto also committed to promoting leadership with integrity.
This includes taking decisive steps to curb the excessive luxury enjoyed by some leaders and creating a legal framework to address potential conflicts of interest within government institutions.
Furthermore, the two leaders pledged to work together to protect and promote the rule of law, ensuring that constitutional principles are upheld in the governance of the country.
This recent development comes just a day after Raila Odinga completed his two-week consultative tour across the country.
During this period, he engaged with Kenyans to gather their thoughts and opinions as he considered his next political move.
