A Kenyan man, Evans Kibiwott Kangogo, was recently discovered dead inside his apartment in Seattle, Washington, in the United States—three days after his death had occurred.

Kangogo had not shown up for work for three days in a row, which worried his colleagues. It was this unusual absence that led them to raise an alarm. Their concern eventually led to the heartbreaking discovery of his body in his Northgate apartment on June 27, 2025.

A medical autopsy later confirmed that Kangogo had passed away on June 24, three days before he was found.

The unfortunate news was shared by Gotabgaa International, an organization that brings together Kenyans living in the United States. “Evans was found on June 27, 2025, dead in his apartment located in Northgate, Seattle (Washington), after missing work for three days.

According to the Coroner’s report, he had died on June 24, 2025,” the statement read.

As of now, the exact cause of his death and how it happened have not been released to the public. The circumstances surrounding his passing remain unclear.

Kangogo came from Kipkalwa Village in Kapkoi-Chebior Sub-Location, which is in Elgeyo Marakwet County in Kenya. He was well-educated and respected among his peers.

He attended St. Patrick’s High School in Iten and completed his secondary education in 2012. He later joined Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT), graduating in 2016.

Gotabgaa International and his family are now appealing to the community and well-wishers to help raise funds to transport his body back to Kenya, where he will be laid to rest in his homeland.

Kangogo’s passing has added to the grief among the Kenyan community in the US, coming just days after another tragic loss. Eliud Kipsang, another young Kenyan man, also died recently in Alabama, USA, reportedly after suffering a sudden cardiac arrest.

According to reports, Kipsang was rushed to a hospital after the attack, but despite the doctors’ efforts, he could not be revived.

Originally from Kapsang in Uasin Gishu County, Kipsang had shown great potential as a middle-distance runner from a young age. In 2019, he represented Kenya in the Africa Championships. After that, he moved to the US to pursue further education and athletics.

While at the University of Alabama, he became well-known in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) circuit, competing at a high level from 2020 to 2023.

The back-to-back deaths of Kangogo and Kipsang have deeply saddened Kenyans both in the United States and back home, as both young men were full of promise and had bright futures ahead of them.

The Kenyan diaspora and the families of the two men are now in mourning as they work to give them dignified send-offs.
