Ruto Gives Ksh100K to Leaders Who Visit State House – MP Jayne Kihara

MP Jayne Kihara Alleges President Ruto Gives Ksh100K to Leaders Who Visit State House

Naivasha Member of Parliament Jayne Kihara has claimed that President William Ruto gives financial rewards to leaders who attend meetings at State House.

Speaking during an interview aired on K24 TV on Tuesday, July 22, Kihara alleged that every leader who goes to State House receives Ksh100,000 as fuel money.

According to the MP, this form of “appreciation” is given each time a leader attends, and if someone wants to continue receiving such money, they just have to keep going back.

“President William Ruto believes in bribing people. I have experienced it personally, and not just once. Whenever we go to State House for a meeting, we are given Ksh100,000 for petrol.

That is what they call appreciation money. If you want more, just keep attending the meetings and you’ll be appreciated more,” Kihara said.

She further accused the President of using money to influence and control leaders.

“If you get close to him, he will bribe you. That’s his way—he believes in money and in buying people’s loyalty,” she stated.

President Ruto often hosts various delegations and leaders at State House in Nairobi. These meetings are usually publicized as inclusive discussions meant to promote development.

Within the first and second quarters of this year alone, the President has met with religious leaders, including bishops, pastors, and evangelists from Machakos, Kitui, and Makueni counties.

He has also met with Members of Parliament, Cabinet Secretaries, youth representatives, and Members of County Assemblies (MCAs) to talk about infrastructure projects and local development plans.

However, MP Kihara insisted that many leaders do not attend these meetings for developmental reasons but rather for the financial incentives.

She urged those who regularly go to State House to stop pretending they are going for national development discussions and admit they are lured by the perks.

Kihara was among a group of politicians recently arrested in connection with the Saba Saba demonstrations, which were organized to protest against the government. Despite her arrest, she said she will not be intimidated or discouraged from speaking out against what she sees as poor leadership in the country.

She called on Kenyan youth to prepare for real change by ensuring they have their national IDs and voter registration cards. According to her, the only way to bring about a new and better leadership is by voting out the current administration during the 2027 general election.

“The youth must be ready. Get your IDs, register as voters, and turn out in large numbers in 2027. Let’s take back our country through the ballot,” she urged.
