Government Shuts Down Hospital Linked to CEO Susan Njoki’s Mysterious Death

Chiromo Hospital Ordered to Close, Patients to Be Evacuated Immediately

The Kenyan government has taken swift and decisive action by ordering the immediate closure of Chiromo Hospital’s Braeside branch, the facility where Toto Touch CEO Susan Njoki tragically died under suspicious circumstances.

In a formal notice issued on Friday, July 25, the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC) instructed the hospital to stop all clinical services without delay. The letter, signed by KMPDC’s CEO Dr. David Kariuki, further directed that all patients be safely evacuated within 24 hours of receiving the communication.

The move comes amid troubling allegations that a hospital staff member may have been involved in Njoki’s untimely death. The Council’s decision followed an inspection conducted at the facility on July 18, which raised serious red flags about the hospital’s operations and practices.

As part of the ongoing investigation, KMPDC has demanded that the hospital submit a full post-mortem report, along with Njoki’s medical records and all other relevant documentation related to her treatment and admission.

“Due to emerging reports that point to the possible involvement of one of your staff in the death of Susan Kamengere Njoki, the Council is compelled to take urgent action,” reads part of the letter from Dr. Kariuki.
“You are hereby directed to evacuate all patients within 24 hours, suspend all clinical activities until further notice, and provide a written response including the required reports,” the directive continued.

Disturbing Circumstances Surrounding Njoki’s Death

Susan Njoki passed away on July 15, a day after she was allegedly forcibly taken from her home in Kileleshwa and injected with unknown substances. Audio recordings believed to have been made by Njoki revealed that a group of men stormed her home and abducted her, allegedly under the orders of her husband.

In the recordings, Njoki described how two men held her down while two nurses administered an injection without her consent. When she tried to find out where they were taking her, she was met with silence—heightening her fear and confusion.

Autopsy Findings Confirm Foul Play

A panel of six pathologists later conducted a post-mortem examination and concluded that Njoki died from manual strangulation. Their findings showed visible signs of forceful compression on her neck, leading to oxygen deprivation in her bloodstream—the direct cause of death.

During a press briefing held on Tuesday, July 22, the pathologists stated that Njoki had eaten shortly before her death, as food was found in her stomach. This indicates she died only a few hours after her last meal, offering a clearer timeline of her final moments.

Importantly, the medical experts disputed earlier reports from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), which had claimed Njoki died while being transported to the hospital. The autopsy instead confirmed that she died inside the hospital premises.

As the investigation deepens, the spotlight is now on the hospital and those allegedly involved. The closure order signals a growing urgency from authorities to ensure justice is served and similar tragedies prevented in future.
