Gen Z Leader Slams Top ODM Official Over Chanting Opposition Slogans

Gen Z Leader Criticizes Top ODM Official for Chanting Opposition Slogans

Popular ODM youth league member and well-known Gen Z leader Kasmuel McOure has strongly criticized the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Secretary General, Edwin Sifuna, for loudly chanting the opposition slogan “one term” during recent public events.

In a detailed statement posted across social media on November 30, 2025, Kasmuel accused Sifuna of being inconsistent and promoting slogans that he believes go against the core values and long-standing political ideology of the ODM party.

According to Kasmuel, it was unacceptable for the Secretary General to openly embrace “Wantam,” a rallying cry associated with political groups that, in his view, oppose ODM’s beliefs and often undermine the party’s supporters. He argued that party leaders must remain loyal to the movement’s principles.

Kasmuel further accused the Nairobi Senator of presenting his personal views as official party positions, especially at a time when ODM is undergoing an important internal transition that requires unity, discipline, and strong institutional leadership.

He claimed that Sifuna’s remarks have caused confusion within the party and weakened collective focus.

The Gen Z leader also alleged that Sifuna contributed to a misleading narrative during the party’s 20th anniversary celebrations in Mombasa, a narrative that sought to belittle ODM Party Leader Dr. Oburu Oginga.

According to Kasmuel, Sifuna worked with individuals who embarrassed the Party Leader and even attempted—though unsuccessfully—to turn the crowd against him.

He went on to claim that the Secretary General has been openly criticizing broad-based ODM supporters and associating with people who want to disrupt the political cooperation between ODM and the Kenya Kwanza government.

Kasmuel also accused Sifuna of skipping key party activities, including campaign events, which he says shows a lack of commitment to ODM’s official agenda.

He now wants the Secretary General to either fully support the party’s official direction or step aside for someone else who can protect ODM’s image and uphold its values with seriousness, clarity, and disciplined political leadership.

Kasmuel ended his statement by warning that the ODM youth wing will continue speaking out whenever they feel the Secretary General is going against the party’s interests.

He emphasized that young members will not stay silent while the party’s integrity is being compromised.
