Social Health Authority Appoints 23 New Assistant Directors to Boost Service Delivery

The Social Health Authority (SHA) has announced the appointment of 23 new assistant directors across various departments in the country.

The move aims to strengthen the Authority’s leadership team and enhance the delivery of healthcare services to Kenyans.

In a statement released on Friday, October 31, 2025, SHA Board Chairperson Abdi Mohamed said the appointments followed a competitive recruitment process that began on July 29, 2025.

He noted that the exercise was part of the Authority’s efforts to improve its operational efficiency and expand access to quality healthcare nationwide.

“This expansion of our senior management team brings in a wealth of professional experience and expertise.

These newly appointed leaders will play a vital role in strengthening our operational capacity across all directorates as SHA continues to scale up its services and fulfill its mandate of ensuring universal health coverage for all Kenyans,” the statement read in part.

Among the new appointees are Rose Nakhungu Nandasaba, who will serve as Assistant Director of Legal Services, and Adow Osman Ahmed, appointed as Assistant Director of Registration and Compliance. Moindi Kevin Omai has also been named Assistant Director of Supply Chain Management.

In the Planning and Linkages Directorate, Beatrice Chengat Kimale and Douglas Odhiambo Owino have been appointed as Assistant Directors, while Mercy Kamene Mutua and James Letangule will serve as Assistant Directors of Benefits Management.

Additionally, Samira Swaleh and Kennedy Kirichu Ndegwa have taken up roles as Assistant Directors of Fund Management.

In the Finance and Accounts Directorate, Mohammed Elmi and Irene Jepng’etich Rono have been appointed as Assistant Directors to strengthen financial oversight and accountability within the Authority.

The Administration Department will now have Callista Kendi Omwenga and Timothy Musyoka Malusi as Assistant Directors, while the Human Resource Management and Customer Experience Directorate will benefit from the expertise of Maurreen Cherwon, Khadija Ali Juma, and Bria Muriithi Mugambi.

In the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Department, Julius Kiamba Muli has been appointed Assistant Director, bringing his experience in digital transformation and systems management to help enhance service delivery efficiency.

Other appointments include Fardoda Abdi Ali and Gilbert Mogambi Osoro, who will serve as Assistant Directors in Registration and Compliance, and Julia Ouko, who joins as Assistant Director in Provider Management.

James Tama and Samson Nthei have been appointed Assistant Directors in the Internal Audit Department to strengthen governance, transparency, and accountability mechanisms.

These appointments come shortly after the SHA Board announced the naming of 16 new Deputy Directors and 9 Principal Claims Management Officers on October 9, 2025.

The new appointments reflect SHA’s continued commitment to building a strong, efficient, and professional team capable of delivering on its mission to improve the health and well-being of all Kenyans through effective service delivery and institutional growth.
