Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya criticized legislators from his county for their absence at an interdenominational prayer service, labeling them as cowards.

Speaking during the Friday prayer event held at the Kitale Agricultural Showground, Natembeya said the MPs did not have the courage to publicly support his Tawe Movement despite expressing their support in private.

“Stop being cowards. If you’re backing the Tawe Movement, don’t just call me at night; have the courage to support it openly during the day. It’s like facing circumcision; you need to step out of your traditional house and endure the pain,” Natembeya directly addressed the individuals.

The county boss firmly stated his refusal to collaborate with politicians whom he labeled as political cowards, emphasizing hiss stance against those unwilling to make decisive decisions.

“We will not allow Western Kenya to continue grappling with poverty despite its contribution to national politics,” Natembeya declared. “We have participated fully in national politics but have not reaped the benefits.”

The Tawe movement seeks leadership change in Western Kenya region.

Natembeya, the leader of the movement, expressed dissatisfaction with the absence of all Members of Parliament from Trans Nzoia County at the event.

At the prayer event, the County Governor was joined by Members of the County Assembly (MCAs) and county staff. Notably missing were the Members of Parliament from the five constituencies, Senator Allan Chesang, and Woman Rep Lilian Siyoi.

Former Bungoma Governor Wycliffe Wangamati, elders, and members of the business community also graced the interdenominational prayer service with their presence.
