The Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua issued a public apology to President William Ruto on Sunday for his tardiness at an Akorino prayer service in Nakuru County.

Despite arriving late to the function at Nakuru Boys’ High School, Gachagua promptly commenced his speech with an apology to President Ruto, citing transport challenges, bad weather, and traffic jams as the cause of his tardiness.

“In my government, I am the most disciplined, however, I faced challenges with my transport arrangements and encountered adverse weather conditions. As a result, I left late and found myself stuck in traffic between Naivasha and Longonot for over two hours.” Gachagua insisted.

Expressing his gratitude, he thanked President Ruto for honoring the invitation to the Akorino service nd conveyed his joy directly to Ruto, stating, ‘I am the happiest person today.”

President Ruto, renowned for his punctuality in government circles, has publicly instructed senior officials to account for their tardiness in writing during his meetings on multiple occasions.

President Ruto went ahead to warn leaders that Kenya has no place for politics of tribalism.

“I want to ask you leaders, all of who have leadership positions that please my friends and brothers, let us unite and work together, let us not divide Kenyans, let us work together for the unity of this nation.”

“The journey I started with my predecessor Uhuru Kenyatta to unite Kenyans in 2013 remains on course,” the President warned political leaders.

The President emphasized the journey Kenya has undertaken in combating tribal politics, stating that the foundation he established with Uhuru in 2013 would not be compromised.

Ruto assured, as president, that such politics would not resurface in the country, stating, “No matter what, that kind of politics will not come back again because we know the price, challenges, and the cost of mobilizing people based on tribalism.
