Saboti Constituency Member of Parliament, Caleb Amisi, has called on President William Ruto to retire senior government officials who are aged 60 years and above.
Amisi’s bold demand, made via his official X account, targets high-ranking state officers, including Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi and National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula.
The lawmaker emphasized the need for a generational shift in leadership, stating that officials who have surpassed the age of 60 should step down to pave the way for younger talent.
“Dear William Ruto, just in case you misplaced their IDs, Musalia Mudavadi is 63 years old, his bure kabisa comrade, Moses Wetang’ula, is 67 years old. They should not report to work on Monday,”
Amisi went on to list several other senior officials he believes should retire immediately.
Among them are Treasury Cabinet Secretary Njuguna Ndung’u, aged 64, Attorney General Justin Muturi, aged 68, Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu, aged 68, Energy Cabinet Secretary Davis Chirchir, aged 63, and Lands Cabinet Secretary Alice Wahome, aged 65.
“Experience in public service is no longer an added advantage but an added experience of public money. We are cleaning Kenya. Kenya needs a renaissance!”
He also suggested that following the retirement of these top officials, their Principal Secretaries, Director Generals, and Chief Executive Officers who are within the same age range should also step down.
