President William Ruto has provided reasons for reappointing Kithure Kindiki as Cabinet Secretary for Interior, one week after reshuffling his entire cabinet.
During a visit to Tharaka Nithi County on Thursday, Ruto highlighted Kindiki’s successful efforts in managing security challenges.
“Nawashukuru tena mmenipatia profesa Kithure Kindiki. Huyu Profesa ndio waziri wetu wa Usalama na huyu jamaa amefanya kazi nzuri. Magaidi wamekwama, Kule Lamu amepanga, kule North Rift hata bandits wamehama.”
The President also engaged with the local community, asking if Kindiki should continue in his role. The response was overwhelmingly positive.
“Huyu jamaa anatosha ama hatoshi? Aendelee ama asiendelee? Hebu nione kwa mikono?”
Kindiki is among 20 nominees for Ruto’s new cabinet, with 11 members from the previous cabinet being reappointed.
