COTU Secretary-General Francis Atwoli has expressed strong support for President William Ruto’s recent decision to include four top Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leaders in his Cabinet.
Speaking at Tom Mboya Labor College in Kisumu, Atwoli commended the President for choosing capable individuals and urged him to allocate the remaining Cabinet positions to young people.
Atwoli expressed support for the collaboration between the opposition and the presidency, stating;
“If the President and Raila, in their wisdom, have decided that some members of Azimio should contribute to the country’s stability, I am not in a position to say it was wrong.”
Defending ODM leader Raila Odinga against criticism, Atwoli underscored Odinga’s significant contributions to Kenya’s freedom.
“This freedom people are enjoying was brought by Raila. There is no day Raila will let Kenyans down; people should understand that,” he asserted.
Atwoli highlighted Odinga’s sacrifices and urged Kenyans to recognize his efforts, proposing that Odinga deserves a symbolic honor, such as a salary, without the obligation to work.
Atwoli also applauded the active engagement of Generation Z in advocating for the country’s rights and stressed the importance of mentoring young people for future leadership roles.
