During his recent visit to Ethiopia, Raila Odinga received enthusiastic praise from young African leaders who expressed admiration for his decades-long commitment to Pan-Africanism and his vision for a unified, prosperous Africa.

These leaders, representing diverse regions across the continent, hailed Raila for his track record in fostering peace, democracy, and infrastructure development—qualities they believe are essential as he campaigns for the African Union Commission (AUC) chairmanship.

Many young African leaders view Raila as a transformative figure capable of driving the continent towards achieving key goals like economic integration and social cohesion.

His proposal to promote Swahili and Arabic as continental languages for business and communication resonated with these leaders, who see linguistic unity as a crucial step toward enhancing trade and collaboration.

Raila’s previous role as the AU High Representative for Infrastructure Development has already laid the groundwork for these goals, and many are hopeful that his leadership could further accelerate Africa’s progress under the African Union Agenda 2063.

With support from across Africa, including 19 countries such as Uganda, Tanzania, and the Democratic Republic of Congo, Raila’s candidacy has gained significant traction.

Leaders and youth groups alike are rallying behind him, hoping his tenure would promote transparency, collaboration, and the empowerment of African youth, positioning Africa for an era of sustainable growth and innovation.
