Linturi Reveals Millions New CS Bagged for His Impeachment

Linturi Alleges Ksh5.2 Million Bribe Was Paid to Push for His Impeachment

Former Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mithika Linturi has made explosive claims, alleging that current Public Service CS Geoffrey Ruku received Ksh5.2 million to engineer his impeachment while he served as the Mbeere North MP.

Linturi made these revelations during an interview with Weru TV on Sunday, April 21. He strongly criticized Ruku, saying the betrayal was especially painful because they both come from the same region.

According to him, Ruku played a key role in the impeachment motion, not out of principle, but for financial gain.

“Ruku is just a political mercenary. He’s someone who can be bought—he lacks integrity. He accepted a bribe of 40,000 US dollars to initiate my impeachment. It’s like killing your own brother just to marry his wife,” Linturi remarked emotionally.

Linturi also mentioned that Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua got involved in the matter at the time.

He said Gachagua summoned Ruku, questioned him about his actions, and even obtained a list of 83 names involved in the plot. Gachagua later called Linturi and showed him the list, saying, “Look at your so-called friends.”

The former CS didn’t stop there. He criticized the appointment of Ruku as the new Public Service CS, saying the move was not about public service but merely to fill a vacancy left by former CS Justin Muturi. “You simply cannot compare the experience and legacy of Muturi with Ruku. It’s like night and day,” Linturi stated.

Linturi also weighed in on the recent cabinet reshuffles carried out by President William Ruto. He argued that the Mount Kenya region is poorly represented in the current administration.

According to him, many of those appointed are not courageous enough to stand up for their communities.

“There are leaders who are truly accepted and respected by the people, and then there are those who are just appointed to tick a box.

People who are always ready to say ‘yes sir’ just because they’ve been given some favors do not truly represent the interests of our region,” he said.

Speaking about his removal from the Cabinet, Linturi insisted that the decision was politically motivated.

He maintained that his performance was solid, and even those who opposed him admitted he did a good job.

“I wasn’t removed because I failed in my duties. I believe I did an excellent job. Even some of my harshest critics acknowledged the work I did—that alone should tell you something about how dedicated I was,” he added.

Linturi further revealed that he has no intentions of returning to a government position within the Kenya Kwanza administration.

However, he expressed concern over how powerless Cabinet Secretaries have become in the current regime.

“Ministers in this government don’t have any real authority. They don’t even sign official documents.

Names of appointees are published in the gazette, and it’s claimed that the CS made the appointments, but in reality, they have no say,” he concluded.

Linturi’s statements have stirred political waters, raising fresh questions about internal government politics, integrity in leadership, and the true representation of regional interests in the national cabinet.
