State House Announces Massive Auction of Damaged Cars, Carpets, Washing Machines, Cookers & More

State House to Hold Public Auction of Damaged Vehicles, Household Items, and More

The Executive Office of the President has announced an upcoming public auction where various damaged and unserviceable vehicles, along with a wide range of household items, will be sold to the public.

According to a notice published on the MyGov platform on Tuesday, May 27, the State House revealed that the auction will include several types of motor equipment.

These items range from worn-out tyres, used car batteries, and obsolete vehicle spare parts to other assorted car components. The auction is scheduled to take place on Friday, June 13.

In addition to the motor equipment, a variety of household goods will also be available at the auction. These include old laundry machines, worn carpets and rags, car washing machines, generators, halogen security lights, electric cookers, and lawn mowers, among other miscellaneous items.

Anyone interested in participating in the auction is required to show up at the State Department for Roads in Ruiru, starting from 10 am on the auction day, June 13.

To qualify as a bidder, prospective buyers must pay a refundable deposit of Ksh50,000 in cash before they can participate. This deposit is intended to secure their spot in the auction.

The deposit payment can be made during normal working hours at the cash office located within State House in Nairobi.

For those seeking more detailed information about the auction, including the full list of items available, the venue, terms of sale, and dates when the items can be inspected before bidding, the public is encouraged to visit the official government websites at www.tenders.go.ke and www.president.go.ke. Both websites provide downloadable catalogues containing all the necessary details.

If anyone has questions or needs clarification about the auction process or items on sale, they have been advised to contact the appointed auctioneer, Astorion Auctioneers, who is managing the sale.

This is not the first time that the State House has organized such an auction. Similar public sales have been held before, with previous announcements made on the MyGov platform as well.

For instance, about a year ago on May 28, 2024, the State House announced plans to sell off various unserviceable items including motorcycles, tyres, car batteries, rims, and other assorted goods.

The terms for that auction closely resembled the current one, with the same minimum refundable deposit, venue, and a similar auction date, which was set for June 14, 2024.

This ongoing practice demonstrates the government’s effort to efficiently dispose of old and unusable equipment and household items through a transparent public bidding process.

Interested Kenyans are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to acquire useful items at potentially reduced prices.
