Shock and outrage have gripped Kenyans following revelations of non-existent schools in Baringo county

One such school, Kaptiony Girls High School in Kaptiony village, Barwessa Ward, is depicted by a large signboard and gate in the bushes, with no actual classes or structures

Despite the school’s apparent existence on paper, it lacks any physical presence or students, raising questions about the allocation and utilization of funds

Another school, Kampi Nyasi Secondary School, faces a similar situation, with locals mocking it as being merely the roads and gullies in the area

Baringo – Kenyans have expressed shock and uproar following revelations of non-existent schools in Baringo county.

In a report aired on NTV Kenya, a school recorded to be in Kaptiony village in Barwessa Ward was found to not exist with no classes.

Despite a huge signboard proudly announcing the presence of Kaptiony Girls High School, the only proof that there is a school is the well-labelled gate in one of the bushes.

In the said school compound is a lush green view with beautiful trees covering its expanse one would confuse it for a research centre.

According to the report, the school does not exist anywhere, with no single structure or students to show for it. And no, it’s not because of banditry, which is rampant in the region.

The school reportedly have board members and school fees accounts but no active learners to show where all the funds are directed.

Kampi Nyasi Secondary School is also suffering the same predicament with locals making fun of the school being the roads and gullies in the area.

Kenyans react to Baringo ghost schools

The revelation has had Kenyans questioning who is accountable for the school, with most claiming it is an elaborate ploy to defraud the government of school capitation funds. However, there are those who insisted that the schools were yet to be constructed, terming the story politically instigated.

@gnsoduor: “Totally shocking! it means that conmanship is on a new high”

@musava_ke: “Watu ni wajanja, so kuna pesa hukua allocated na zinakulwa na watu, hehee.”

@jymohAfrica1: “Kenya is a country of it’s own character,,,of all the other things how can someone think of ghosting schools.”

@ronaldkandie001: “I come from the very place, a member of the community. This is a big lie and it is politically motivated. All these are proposed schools yet to be allocated funds for construction.”

@EdwardoKim5: “Conmanship in every corner of this country. The mp of the constituency should be interviewed and tell Kenyans how much he has allocated for the school so far.”

@AtKrowbiel: “This makes you wonder: are population census numbers genuine? Could they be altered to influence elections and fund distribution?”
