“I have seen Gen Zs getting teargassed. Continue to get teargassed even us we have been teargassed.”

Azimio leader Raila Odinga has reiterated his support for Generation Z following the recent nationwide anti-government demonstrations.

Speaking on Friday, July 5 in Nyeri, the former Prime Minister said he is fully behind the Gen Z protests despite taking a back seat.

“The Gen Z told me Baba stay at home you have done enough we will continue with the struggle. I am at home but I am behind you,” said Raila.

The opposition chief urged the young people not to relent on the push for better governance in the country.

“I have seen Gen Zs getting teargassed. Continue to get teargassed even us we have been teargassed. Tell them to add more teargas, tell them you will not surrender even if they try anything you will stand firm,” Raila stated.

He called out the church for being silent while the youths came out in numbers to show their displeasure with the current administration.

Raila said the church should stand in solidarity with the youths and speak out on the challenges facing Kenyans.

“The church should sympathize and stand on the side of people of this country and speak itself truth to power. When children of this country come out in large numbers to say something is wrong, the church itself should stand with these children,” the Azimio leader said.

Further, Raila highlighted the need for a serious dialogue to fix issues that have gone wrong in the country.

He pointed out that the issues of unemployment, corruption ethnicity, nepotism, and exclusion should be discussed for the country to get things right.
