MP Breaks Into Tears As Gachagua Kneels To Be Prayed For Against Impeachment. Watch

On Sunday, an emotional moment unfolded when Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua knelt for prayers amid looming impeachment threats, leaving a prominent Mt. Kenya MP in tears.

Juja Member of Parliament, George Koimburi, a close ally of Gachagua, couldn’t hold back his emotions during the prayer session, which took place at a church service.

The MP, draped in a white cloth, was visibly moved as the Deputy President humbly sought divine intervention.

Gachagua, facing an imminent impeachment motion set to be presented in Parliament this week, called on the congregation to pray not only for him but also for President William Ruto.

He urged Kenyans to set aside divisive politics and focus on unity, stating, “It is my hope that sanity will prevail.

Let’s tone down the politics of division and work for the people of Kenya. We were elected two years ago, and we have not yet accomplished what we promised.”

He emphasized that the government should be allowed to complete its five-year term as mandated by the electorate, adding, “Let us respect the will of the people. We need to avoid the politics of division and hatred.”

Reports have surfaced that over 300 MPs have already signed the motion to impeach Gachagua, with the motion expected to be tabled by Tuesday.

Allegations fueling the impeachment include leaking state secrets, sponsoring unrest during protests, involvement in corruption, and insubordination towards President Ruto.

In response, Gachagua has dismissed the claims, accusing his political rivals of plotting to oust him. He also claimed that MPs were being offered bribes, with reports suggesting sums as high as Ksh.5 million to support the motion.

Despite these challenges, the Deputy President remains hopeful, calling for peace and unity in the country.
