A number of auctioneers have placed a wide range of items on sale, including various motor vehicles and even a fully operational petrol station, as many Kenyans continue to feel the pressure of the current economic hardships.

In an auction notice published in local newspapers, one auctioneering firm announced the sale of several vehicles through a public auction, with starting prices as low as Ksh200,000. This sale presents an opportunity for Kenyans looking to acquire affordable cars or invest in commercial property.

Some of the most budget-friendly vehicles on the list include a 2008 Mazda Axela BK5P priced at Ksh294,000, a Subaru Forester S15 Auto selling for Ksh244,000—currently available at Eldoret Supermax Storage Services—and a 2003 Toyota TownAce KR42 going for Ksh293,000.

Other vehicles available in the auction include a Toyota Wish ZNE10 being sold at Wachenya Yard in Kitale for Ksh373,000, a Toyota IST listed at Jogoo Road Motors for Ksh292,000, and a 2007 Subaru Impreza priced at Ksh379,000.

For those in search of more luxurious but still affordable vehicles, the auctioneer has included several options. Among them are a Nissan X-Trail listed at Ksh795,000, a 2014 BMW X1 sDrive20i B48 going for Ksh994,000, a 2016 Audi Q3 priced at Ksh1.4 million, and a Honda Stream offered at Ksh371,000.

If you’re interested in smaller, compact vehicles, the auction also features a Nissan Juke priced at Ksh690,000 and available at Mutech Auto Garage in Murang’a. Other compact cars on offer include a 2015 Nissan Note at Ksh554,000 and two units of the Toyota Passo, priced at Ksh254,000 and Ksh345,000 respectively.

Buyers interested in the transport or logistics sector are not left out. The auction includes commercial vehicles such as two Isuzu D-Max TIR 86 pickups—one listed at Ksh2.5 million and the other at Ksh1.4 million.

A 2011 Nissan Caravan is available for Ksh541,000, and another unit of the Toyota TownAce KR42 is listed at Ksh293,000.

All these vehicles will be sold through a private treaty, meaning potential buyers must submit their purchase offers directly. The deadline for submitting offers is set for noon on Tuesday, July 1, 2025.

In a separate but equally notable listing, a petrol station situated along Garissa Road in Makongeni, Thika, has also been put up for auction. This is part of a wider repossession exercise targeting various commercial properties in Kiambu County.

The property measures approximately 0.507 acres and is already developed with a fully functional petrol station along with supporting buildings.

It is strategically located near major landmarks such as the International College of Technology and a Shell petrol station, making it highly attractive for investors looking for commercial opportunities.

“This is a prime commercial location with existing infrastructure in place. It offers great value for any interested buyers looking to invest in the fuel retail business,” stated part of the auction notice. The property is under a leasehold title registered in the name of A.O. Basid Ltd.

With vehicles starting from as low as Ksh200,000 and a prime commercial fuel station also on offer, this auction could be a golden opportunity for Kenyans seeking both personal and business investments.
